Thyroid Problems
The thyroid gland is situated in the lower neck behind the Adams apple.
It is about 2 inches in length. You can feel it slightly but when its enlarged
it can be easily felt. The levels of thyroid hormones released into the body
are measured and controlled by the pituitary gland and hypothalamus. In order
for the thyroid to function correctly a number of other systems in the body
must be communicating and functioning within necessary parameters.
Some major systems the thyroid gland depends on are the Hypothalamus and
pituitary, conversion of T4 to T3 and the thyroid hormones binding functions.
So a number of different areas in the body are responsible in part to the
proper functioning of your thyroid. Problems with this gland can cause major
disturbance to many aspects of metabolism. This can produce strange symptoms
in almost every system of the body.
You must seek a qualified professional when you have thyroid problems and
have it properly monitored. Never come of any thyroid medication instantly.
If your body has attacked the thyroid and the thyroid is no longer functioning
you need to be medicated with some kind of thyroid hormone.
